{"id":2767,"date":"2020-06-25T22:50:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-25T20:50:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.polishnative.pl\/?p=2767"},"modified":"2021-08-07T10:01:43","modified_gmt":"2021-08-07T08:01:43","slug":"brzeczyszczykiewicz-en","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/polishnative.pl\/en\/brzeczyszczykiewicz-en\/","title":{"rendered":"Brz\u0119czyszczykiewicz!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #dd3333;\">I would like to dedicate this post to all my students who struggle with Polish pronunciation and who think it\u2019s impossible to pronounce words like \u201cszcz\u0119\u015bcie\u201d.<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This scene comes from a very famous Polish comedy about World War II <span style=\"color: #dd3333;\">\u201cJak rozp\u0119ta\u0142em drug\u0105 wojn\u0119 \u015bwiatow\u0105\u201d<\/span>. A Polish soldier, caught by the Nazis didn\u2019t want to tell them his real name, so he was smart enough to invent a surname (Brz\u0119czyszczykiewicz) and address (Chrz\u0105szczy\u017cewoszyce, powiat \u0141\u0119ko\u0142ody) which would be impossible for the Germans to pronounce and write down. His idea did work a trick and ruined the whole procedure of interrogation.
